As an Algarve artist, I wanted to capture a moment of quiet reflection and natural beauty in this Algarve original art. This oil painting portrays a single Protea pincushion flower gently floating on the rippling surface of the water, evoking a sense of serenity and contemplation. The delicate, spiky petals of the pincushion Protea are painted in soft, muted tones of cream and pale yellow, standing in striking contrast against the dark, swirling water beneath.

As an artist painting in the Algarve, I am inspired by the interplay of light, shadow, and movement in nature. The green leaves of the flower are rendered with realistic detail, their edges gently blurred by the shifting reflections of water. The surface itself distorts and mirrors the image of the Protea, adding a dreamy, almost ethereal quality to the composition.
